Black Cat Clapping
What it means
The clip shows a cat that stands up after being fed, claps loudly and points at its owner, as if thanking them for dinner. It sits between creepy and funny, which is the whole appeal. As a meme it is mostly used as a green-screen insert in places where you should be quiet, with a caption begging the cat to stop clapping.
Where it came from
Know Your Meme traces it to Instagram user merkurianin, who posted the AI-edited video at the end of September 2026; it passed 2.6 million views within a few weeks. Days later a TikTok green-screen version captioned "Bro we're skipping stop clapping" turned it into a reusable format.

FAQ
Is the clapping cat real?
No. The original was generated or edited with an AI video tool — real cats do not have hands.
Why is it called "Black Cat Clapping"?
Because the cat in the original clip is black and the joke is the loud applause.
